Indian scat! hahaha
Re: Steve Smith and Jojo Mayer duet at VF
More than one way to read that... Anyway, and with YT blocked here, I'll just say that the Indian rhythmic vocal system is best left to experts. McLaughlin, who's been working with Indian music for decades now, is only OK at it. A good example, done by the percussionists, opens Shakti's album A Handful of Beauty.

Yes, it's supposed to be cool, and it's not scat. It's konnakol (+ tala).
Who's buyng it? Well, Indians have for 2,000+ years.
But ok, Steve Smith and most westerners don't really nail it the way classically trained Indians who've done it from age 3 do.

Just seems like there's a lot of unwarranted attitude and negativity on this forum. Don 't get me wrong Im not offended that hardly no one likes the video, I don't care mate, it's just like the video is offensive. WTF? I don't care if you don't like either Jojo's or Steve's aesthetic choices, there's undeniable skill there that deserves respect... just tired of people pissing on things. Sign of the times my friend. Youtube armchair pilots...

And furthermore, the attitude that there's nothing to be gleaned or learned from such a video as this is a little ignorant...

I could not agree more with this statement!!!!
Kudos, and +1,000,000
Although I do agree with this way of saying it much more than your "original" statement,
Thank you,
