This is the reason why I like Virgil. Impeccable timing, very musical, and a killer sound. Oh, and a great song.mgarcez wrote:This is the video interpretation of 'Red Air', taken from my new record 'In This Life'. For those familiar with the record version, you will notice it's an alternate drum take. Special thanks to the musicians for their remarkable performances.

Yes, I've played around with it and tried different heads on it etc.Paul Marangoni wrote:Has anyone here played Virgil's signature Pearl snare drum? It's supposed to have a snare bed with a straight edge. I'm curious to know how it sounds/feels/plays.
It performs much like the Premier Gen X snares that had maple and birch in them, like this one has.
It's not a specialist/effects snare. It's a snare with quite a broad application range.

Amazing how Virgil has all this soul and attitude while the rest of the band sounds almost like playing with seat belts compared to him. Great stuff during the bass solo.
Re: Official Virgil Donati thread
I actually liked the alternate take bass solo.

That's the one that's on the album.bstocky wrote:I actually liked the alternate take bass solo.
To clear things up - the only thing that was an actual alternate take was Virgil's drum part.
The others just visually re-enacted their original parts, which are the ones you are hearing in the video.

I hope it's not a repost. I love it how Chris and Thomas Lang are responding to Virgil

Fancy drumming shoes? Seems a bit daft. I usually always wear the Pumas in the link above or Chucks while playing. Don't think too much about it, really- they're just comfortable...
