Killin' it. I love how he sort of muscles the drums. If you play with just the sticks (and rebound) well...that's what it sounds like...no meat behind it.beat hit wrote:Oh my! It will be interesting to hear how he sounds on them. I thought he sounded great on the Pearl (and the Premier) drums.

Go Virgil. Here's a prediction. He's going to sound exactly the same. The man is in his 50's playing some of the most challenging music on the planet.

That will be good news for DW, because most drummers sound worse playing them. Or maybe I'm just imagining it.Kurtis wrote:Go Virgil. Here's a prediction. He's going to sound exactly the same.

Didn't post this b/c honestly I can't say I am that excited. I think Virgil historically has sounded great on Sonor (Loose Change live album) Remo (Southern Sons, Power Drumming video) Premier (Stretch etc) Brady (OTV sessions) Tama (Moonbabies recording sessions) and for the past 12 years on Pearl. I just hope this new relationship is as good or better than Pearl were, support wise, and that the people are nice to work with. Also, maybe the Drum Channel affiliation could secure him some new fans.

His Simon influenced sound on 'Moonbabies' is my favorite recorded sound from him. Clear Ambassadors. OTV also sounded good.

Yeah! The fills in 'Midnight Bell' (2:43-3:00) are so powerful and yet holds a beautiful tone to them. Love it!Clint Hopkins wrote:His Simon influenced sound on 'Moonbabies' is my favorite recorded sound from him. Clear Ambassadors. OTV also sounded good.

Virgil will sound better than most DW players...even just by the way he tunes them...
