I thought that was Tony Thompsn on drum set? I really like Tony's drumming back then.

I have nothing but 'awe' and respect and love for this man. Even Vinnie took inspiration from his work. And then some....stellar live drum mix done by himself :)

Ahaahaha, post like this makes me think that finaly I'm not so much a Vince fan boy, thanks man. :D

Yeah Tony Thomson did a great job with Madonna "Like A Virgin", produced by Nile Rodgers so... ;-)
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

I remember watching MTV back in the day and seeing The Power Station videos. Cool band. Robert Palmer. Bass player from Duran Duran. And Tony Thompson. That dude hit the drums like a mother effer. I mean bashed them to heck. He hit the cymbals extremely hard also. I'm sure he went through heads and cymbals like butter. When i hear that Like a Virgin song i can picture him playing that tune. Good drum part.

I personally think Vinnie has taken it to a whole new level, and that is reflected by the gigs he gets. Eye of the Beholder, Inside Out, CCEB first record, etc...yes...they were incredible. I'm always impressed by the CCEB stuff because Chick is such a great writer. But I'm flat out bored by most of the recent stuff. I don't like the sound. I don't like the vibe. But that's just me, and it's not a hate on, for the fan boys out there.

I love Tony Thompson's playing. He killed on 'LaV'. The tunes he laid down on Bowie's 'Let's Dance'. I really enjoy the 'Power Station' albums, even if the second one wasn't great. I liked Robert Palmer's 'Riptide' as well. Yamaha RCs with coated Ambassadors all around for most if not all of those 80's sessions if I recall.

Which tunes did he lay down on 'Let's Dance''? I really like that album...Criminal World (sounds like Omar), Shake It plus the more well known hits.

I'm not sure. Tony was in the 'Modern Love' video but Nile Rodgers says in THIS article it wasn't him on the recording, so who knows.

I think Omar Hakim played on that Bowie record.

Tony also played on Forever Young by Rod Stewart too. He was on everything.
